The papers are full tonight with the news that a “Connectivity Issue” caused the London Stock Exchange to suspend trading this morning, on what could have been the biggest trading day of the year, as George W Bush and his friends, I mean government, stepped in and rescued the worlds two largest mortgage companies (Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae).
Now maybe I have just had a bad month but I’m sure I can hear the black helicopters hovering. What could they be up to? Well that I am not sure, but the LSE going off line doesn’t smell right to me. Maybe things will become a little clearer over the next couple of days reading the bylines and between the lines. Maybe we will find out in 20 years time when some back room civil servant decides to cash out. Maybe I simply need a beer!
