TweetDeck

For those of you that use Twitter and haven’t found TweetDeck yet I suggest you download it and give it a go. TweetDeck makes a much better job of displaying your posts and it a lot makes it a lot easier to follow replies and direct messages.

TweetDeck is currently in Beta so there might be the odd bug, but I find it a whole lot more reliable than Twitterific and a lot less complicated than FriendFeed. No doubt it will also improve as it progresses from Beta.

Eleanor Update

All in all a quiet week. Work was pretty busy, but I must admit I just didn’t have the enthusiasm this week. I haven’t said anything about it up to now, but my Nan has been in a bad way for the last few weeks. My parents have gone back to North wales this weekend and I think I have had this on my mind. Otherwise things have generally been pretty quiet. The “bosses” have been at a big conference, and things are starting to come together. That said, the more I do, the more I start to realise how much I still have to do.

This weekend is a rest and relaxation weekend intermixed with house stuff. Today I took another go at tidying up the office and dumped another black bag of cables and miscellaneous items that have just been sitting in the cupboard. I still have a few more weeks work ahead, but there is only so much I can lose in the rubbish bin each week. Tomorrow, which is supposed to be nice, I am going to have a crack at the back garden. I think a trip to the hardware store is in order as I need some more powerful tools and maybe the odd lion trap! It’s amazing how fast things grow, and how long it takes to get things back into shape.

I feel I have a plan however and at least now have the motivation to start catching up on all the things I neglected for so long. I have promised myself a new TV for the bedroom when I get the garden into a manageable state, manageable for a gardener anyway! I can’t really make a start on the kitchen until the garden is done, and need to sort out the fences as the next strong wind they are going o cause some damage. It’s not going to be cheap either, but hopefully once done they will be good for a few years.

I am also trying to break everything down into manageable chunks as I know last time I gave up simply because i got a little overwhelmed with it all. Sometimes there is the risk of taking on more than is actually achievable. As always I am tackling these with technology, but more of that later.

Tonight I am catching up with some personal stuff, like my blog, my photo album, email. I started by putting together a short “Eleanor Update” video from the material I shot last weekend. I really want to learn to do more with video and my photo’s and really need to improve my skills to this is the first learning experience in a while for me. So please don’t be to critical of my camera work, and just enjoy it for what it is.

Sunday Lunch

So what a fantastic weekend. Sunshine, Boats, and family! Sunday I ventured down to my sisters for my first Sunday roast since I have been home. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful meal, and fantastic to just sit out side with a drink and talk.

Some were only interested in the cake!
Show me the cake!

While others simply couldn’t keep up with the pace.

Southampton Boat Show

IMG_0560.JPGSo yesterday Dad, Clive Green, and myself headed down to Southampton to the boat show. We met up about 09:00 and walked through the town to the train station. We only had to wait 5 minutes for the train and were in Southampton about 30 minutes later. We grabbed a taxi and were though the gates by about 10:00.

It was a lovely day, sunny and warm, and we slowly made our way around the various stands stopping briefly for the odd pint of Guinness. We didn’t buy a boat this time around but it has got us thinking about doing a flotilla next year. The photo’s are available in the Photo Gallery.

eMail woe’s resolved.

So the problems I have been having with forwarding me email finally seem to be resolved. The MobileMe Support team have added my ISP’s email servers to there white lists and email forwarding is finally working.
